Our Story

The tradition of sipping tea atop a mountain in the Canadian Rockies can be traced back over 100 years to Lake Agnes.

The Lake Agnes Tea House was built in 1901 as a refuge for hikers and started serving tea in 1905. The original log building was replaced in 1981, but many original features remain — the windows, tables, and chairs all holding stories from the past century. We proudly serve fine loose leaf teas to travellers from all over the globe, creating an unforgettable experience in the mountains.

Today

The Lake Agnes Tea House sits at 2,135m on the shore of a stunning Lake Agnes. After a scenic 3.5km hike, the forest opens up to the breathtaking ‘Lakes in the Clouds’ — Lake Agnes, Mirror Lake, and Lake Louise.

We are a family owned and operated tea house. Cynthia Magee, along with her daughter Joanna, son-in-law Pierre Luc, and her three grandchildren, warmly welcome you to Lake Agnes. Here you can enjoy over 100 varieties of teas and our baked goods — baked by our baker fresh every morning. We have hearty homemade soup and sandwiches on freshly baked bread.
